Creating a Team

You’ll automatically become the Team Captain for that team.
Inside your profile, you’ll see:
Your Team Details
A unique Team Key (6-letter code)
Options to invite teammates by email or phone number
Team Name Tip: Team names work like usernames. If you change yours, the old name becomes available for anyone to claim. So if you landed the perfect pun… maybe don’t give it up.
-
Everyone on your team needs their own individual login. First-time players will be prompted to register before joining.
You can join a team in two ways:
1. Join by Team Key
After logging in, select Join Team and enter the 6-letter Team Key your captain provides.
2. Be Added Manually
Your Team Captain can add you from their Manage Team section by searching for you via email or phone number.
Once you’ve joined a team, you’ll remain on that roster until you leave or your captain removes you.

What If the Team Captain Isn’t There?
Team captains typically control the team during gameplay and submit answers.
If your usual captain isn’t at the event:The first teammate to log in for that team automatically takes control as captain for the night.
-
Each game features 10 rounds of trivia with a mix of:
Themed Q&A rounds
Visual image rounds
Audio “Name That Tune”–style rounds
Speed rounds
A multi-answer challenge
A big final random knowledge round
Your host runs the show, keeps the pace, and announces breaks and standings.
What You See on Your Device
Once you’re in the game:
All teammates see each question on their own device.
For visual rounds, images appear clearly on your screen.
For audio rounds:
Each clip is played over the venue speakers twice.
Then, every teammate can replay the audio individually on their own device—as many times as the round timer allows.
Answering Questions
Only the Team Captain can type and submit answers.
As the captain types:
All teammates can see the answers fill in on their own devices in real time.
This makes it easy to collaborate and know if your captain is really listening to your input .
You can change your answers anytime during the round until:
The captain taps Submit, or
The round timer runs out
Once either happens:
Your answers are locked in for that round.
If you don’t manually submit before the timer expires, whatever you had entered is automatically submitted to the host.
-
Our scoring model is straightforward: get a question right, earn points. The team with the highest total at the end of the night wins (because… that’s how winning works). Some venues may also award bonus prizes for segment winners (every two rounds).
Rounds 1–8
Each round contains 6 questions, worth 2 points each.
Round 4 (Name that tune): Each question has two parts—1 point for the song title and 1 point for the artist. You can earn partial credit; you don’t need both to score.
Round 9 — Multiple Answer Question
A single question worth up to 10 points.
Round 10 — Random Knowledge
Ten questions, 2 points each, for a total of 20 points.
________________________________The highest possible score in a Quizzoholics game is 158 points.
This total is achievable only when teams maximize their scoring using the available power-ups (explained in the next section).Your cumulative score is updated during scoring breaks:
Every 2 rounds through round 8
After Round 9
And once more at the end of Round 10
You can see the leaderboard at the bottom of your screen during the game, so you always know where you stand
-
Each team gets two power-ups per game, and you can use each one once. They’re simple—but strategic.
The Wild Card can be played during any of the first eight rounds.
It doubles your points for that round.
No penalties, no tricks—just double points.
The Double Down is only available in Round 10.
Like the Wild Card, it doubles your points for the round.
But here’s the catch: if you activate it and enter any incorrect answers, your team scores 0 points for the entire round.
Skipped or blank answers do not hurt you—only wrong ones.
After a team uses a power-up, a ⚡️ icon will appear next to their name on the leaderboard.
-
Team Size: Live play is limited to up to 8 players per team (even though the app doesn’t hard-cap it). ***Some venues may have stricter team limits
Devices: Only one device is required per team for submitting answers, but:
It’s highly recommended that all teammates have the game open so they can see questions, images, and audio clearly—especially in loud venues.
Late arrivals: Teams can join the game late using the Game Pin. You’ll start earning points from whichever round you join.
You can use WiFi or cellular service—if your phone can browse the web, you can play. Slower devices may be a bit laggy, but the game will still work.
-
We love competition. We do not love cheating.
No Outside Help
Yes, you’re on your phone.
Yes, you could Google or ask ChatGPT for answers.
Please don’t.No searching for answers during rounds
No lifelines; phoning a friend who isn’t present is not allowed.
No using other trivia apps or detailed notebooks for “inspiration”
The prizes are fun, not life-changing—but playing fair keeps the game fun for everyone.
Be Cool to Staff
Trivia night usually means:
A full room showing up at once
Servers getting slammed with orders
So please:
Be patient if food and drinks take a little longer
Treat your servers with respect
At Quizzoholics events, a 20% tip is considered the baseline—feel free to go above and beyond if your server is crushing it.
-
Coming in 2026, compete across multiple weeks for even more prizes!
-
Our events are free to play, but tipping your host is always appreciated. If everyone on your team throws in a dollar or two, it goes a long way toward saying thanks for keeping the night fun and running smoothly. We even include a Venmo link(if available) during the intermission screens to make it easy!
The Rules of Play
Team SizE
Every person in your group, at your table is considered a team member. Whether that person adds value to your team or is just here to look pretty and eat chicken fingers. The ideal team is about 4-6 players, but we set the maximum limit to 8. If there are more than 8 people in your party you will need to divide into separate teams and may not actively work together during rounds. Some venues may have stricter team limits.
TRIVIA RULES
DON’T BE A DICK! We’re playing bar trivia. The prize money is only a few dollars. We all are capable of googling answers. Don’t do that. We’re here to have a good time and enjoy some food and beverages with our friends. Don’t ruin the spirit of fun by being overly competitive. It’s not that serious. Some of the questions are hard and you’re not going to get everything right. Some things you might even know and you just won’t be able to recall the information. That’s okay. What’s not okay is cheating at bar trivia for what amounts to a few bucks. You don’t have to play… we won’t be offended. If you do play just don’t be a dick and ruin the game.
BE KIND! Kindness is king, especially when it comes to our waitstaff and servers. Remember if you are here enjoying our game it’s because the restaurant paid us to be here. They do that assuming you’re going to spend a few dollars on drinks and dinner. Don’t forget to take care of your servers and bartenders. 20% is the absolute minimum you should be leaving as gratuity. Feel free to leave a few dollars on top. It’s not going to put you into financial ruin and its going to make someone’s work night a lot better.
That’s it… you’re probably ready for our game to start now, so begin playing by following the link below

Frequently Asked Questions
-
No! You can join or leave the game at any point. Most of our venues offer prizes throughout the night, so you may even snag a win without being present for the entire game.
-
Yes. If you are expecting more than 8 people you should split into multiple teams, even if you may have less than 8 at the start of the game.
If you have more than 8 people at your table and win, you may not be eligible for prizes.
EVEN IF THOSE PEOPLE ARE “NOT EVEN PLAYING”. We count players by the number of people sitting in your group, no matter the value they may or may not add to the team.
-
Absolutely! Our trivia hosts love to be rewarded for their awesomeness and hard work. $1-$2 per team member is plenty adequate to show your appreciation.
-
Let’s start with what you should not do:
Please don’t stand up and scream “CHEATERS!!!” across the bar.
Also not helpful: deciding “Well they’re cheating, so we’re gonna cheat too.”
Both options make the night worse for everyone—including you. Here’s the deal: Quizzoholics has a strict zero-tolerance policy on cheating. Nothing kills a trivia night faster than people thinking the game isn’t fair. If cheating becomes a thing, players stop showing up… and eventually the entire trivia night disappears. Nobody wants that.
So what should you do?
Quietly tell the host. That’s it. Our hosts are extremely good at spotting suspicious behavior, and our game format is built to catch it. And honestly—nine times out of ten—the team you’re worried about is just having their “on fire” night. It happens. But on the rare occasion when someone is cheating?
Yeah, we handle it. We’ve caught cheaters through gameplay patterns, staff observations, and more than a few “You probably shouldn’t have done that in full view of a security camera” moments.Bottom line: give the host a heads-up, and we’ll take care of the rest. You focus on playing the game. We'll focus on keeping it fair.
-
If you’re asking this question, you probably know the answer.
Using your phone to look up the answers at any point during an active round. Even if you're not submitting the answers you look up, you should not be using your phone in this manner during an active trivia round. This includes texting friends that aren’t present. This includes asking your smart watch for help or Shazam to name that tune. This includes asking another team to “trade answers”. It’s a pretty simple concept and we think our rules cover it pretty clear.
Don’t be a dick and cheat at trivia. It’s not that fucking serious, man. Look around… 50% of the people here are dumber than half the people in this room.. It’s okay to not know the answer.
Trivia is like golf… sometimes it’s really hard. But occasionally you’ll make a really nice shot (or get an answer no one else knows) and it keeps you coming back for more. Also, it’s not okay to cheat at golf… you need to count every stroke, Roger.
If you have any other questions, please speak with your trivia host or feel free to reach out to us.
