Quizzoholics Trivia... "A True Update Story"

Hey Guys and Gals…

I just wanted to take the time and let you know what’s been going on since Covid sucker punched our business last spring and what our plans are for 2021. I appreciate you taking the time to read this email and your continued support of our fun little company. If you’re not interested in what’s been going on, just scroll to the bottom of this email for the meat and potatoes.

2020 Recap…

This time last year I was having a hard time finding enough hosts to cover our many trivia venues across New Jersey and Pennsylvania. This year, I’m having a hard time finding enough money to pay for basic necessities. I won’t get too much into it than that.. this isn’t a pity party email.

When the restaurants closed back in March, I took some cash and used it to start and promote a short run of online virtual Trivia games. For those of you that were around for that from the beginning… we definitely had some kinks to work out. Eventually we were able to do that and found a suitable streaming home on Twitch.

Around that time restaurants and bars began outdoor dining as the summer season began. Our online games fizzled as I, now running the show alone, had to focus my attention to our socially distant restaurant events. The virtual games just weren’t bringing in enough revenue to be able to do both in-person and online. We had a good enough summer run but as the weather cooled, so did our events. Many of our restaurants have closed, either temporarily or permanently. We currently only have one active in-person venue. Shoutout Pilsner Haus in Hoboken! Love those guys(and gals)!

Here’s the sad truth.

Quizzoholics is on the verge of going away forever…

It’s hard to admit something I’ve worked on for the last decade is teetering on being lost forever due to no fault of my own. Unfortunately, I’ve recently come to that sad realization. The truth is… We can’t even survive past the end of the month without help. I’m not relying on the barstool fund or government grants to come save us. The fact is there are many business owners in the same situation across the country. So who can I turn to for help?

I’m reaching out to you all, our players and fans. You are the only reason Quizzoholics is even a thing to begin with. It’s been a pleasure getting to entertain all of you and test your knowledge of non-sense over the last 10 years. So before we pack it in and call it quits (which trust me.. is the absolute last thing I want to do). We’re going to make a final push to get some cash flowing in 2021. Here’s what you can expect.

Virtual Trivia on Twitch Returns! Every Wednesday…

Starting next Wednesday January 13th, we will offer a completely free online game. The game will start promptly at 9:15pm and will run for 35-45 minutes.

We’ll keep track of the weekly leaderboards on our website.

On Wednesday’s and Fridays (starting January 13th) we will have pay to play events. The cost for these events is $30 and it is limited to 15 teams(or individuals). The winning team(s) will take home to $200 (based on 15 teams). These events will take place on Zoom and video is required.

Wednesday night is for general trivia and Fridays will be themed! These events will run 45-60 minutes. Tickets are available on our website through the end of the month. Don’t wait, reserve your spot now!

Private Trivia Events…

We’re offering private trivia events for small groups and large groups alike. The cost starts at $225 for zoom groups (up to 15 teams). Please reach out, if you’re interested in booking. Quiz content will be custom fit to your group. These events run 45-60 minutes.

Restaurant Events Will Continue…

Restaurant and Bar events have been the core of this business ever since we started 10 years ago at that Irish Pub in Bordentown, NJ (<3 Dublin, RIP). We will continue these events as long as we can afford to keep the lights on.

Please Support Quizzoholics, However You Can…

Hopefully we’ll see some semblance of normality soon enough in 2021, and this concern of shutting down will be only a memory. Unfortunately hopes and prayers don’t pay the bills so if you can offer any support I’d be forever grateful.

Cheers,

Matt Sorrentino
